Knüg's 100% sustainable cashmere is produced to rigorous environmental and quality standards. We produce a high-quality cashmere that's designed to last. By only using long fibres for our cashmere, it results in more durable, longer-lasting cashmere with minimal pilling.
Our cashmere is certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA), a non-profit organisation working towards preserving the Mongolia grasslands, animal welfare and secure livelihoods for the herders and their families.
We only use the best quality cashmere where the goat has been combed for the fibre. Shearing damages both the goat and the cashmere and although these practises occur, with cheaper suppliers, it does not happen with Knüg’s cashmere. Our cashmere is sourced from Inner Mongolia. The goats are tagged and coded, allowing the cashmere to be traceable. The best and finest fibres are hand-selected and certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and then spun into a beautiful yarn on Italian machines. We use non-toxic dyes and avoid bleaching, so our cashmere remains free of harmful chemicals and is certified according to Standard 100 OEKO-TEX®
The finished yarn is then sent across the border to Nepal, where our cashmere is skilfully knitted by the oldest cashmere specialist family business in Nepal, to the highest sustainable and ethical standards.

Cashmere keeps you four times warmer than regular wool. As it's breathable, it's perfect in warmer climates too. Cashmere is ideal for explorers and travellers, and it adjusts according to the weather conditions by absorbing and releasing water vapours according to the humidity in the air.

KNÜG SILK
A LITTLE LUXURY WITH BIG BENEFITS
Knüg Silk is kind to the planet. We source the best-quality sustainable silk exclusively from suppliers with strong eco-credentials. Our silkworms feed only on mulberry leaves, so they do not need pesticides or fertilisers to grow. We use low impact dyes and avoid bleaching, so our silk remains pure and free of harmful chemicals. Silk is a highly renewable resource, with a much lower environmental impact than many other fabrics. We produce our silk by hand, so we don't use fossil fuel energy in a factory. It can also be recycled.
Deeply rooted in heritage and tradition, our silk is sourced from China, where the fabric was invented nearly 5,000 years ago.
A small manufacturing team in Shanghai makes our silk slip dresses. It is a small independent atelier, not a factory. The pattern cutter has 20 years’ experience of working with fashion houses in Paris – hence the beautiful and flattering cut of our slip dresses.

PANAMA STYLE, CULTURALLY CREATED
The Toquilla Palm we use in our stylish Panama hats is harvested in Ecuador. The craft has been passed down for centuries, and is a cultural practice identified by UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Each piece of toquilla straw is handwoven by skilled weavers in their homes.
